Geographic and Schematic mapping
Long argued over whether they are a map or a diagram… to me they are a map as they connect geographic places – and I enjoy connecting these “dots” in visually pleasing ways.






By analysing and reviewing raw bus or rail data I am able to create a plan of the network. I hand sketch the initial work to allow for quick alternatives and revisions.
Following the intial sketches we can then develop a few layouts to fit the clients’ format. My experience working on London bus and tube maps means I understand how the relationships between the lines, points, labels and symbology all combine to make the clearest map design.
